BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Wednesday marks nine years since a young Berkeley County woman lost her life in a fatal shooting that remains unsolved to this day. On June 7, 2014, Ariel Morgan, 19, attended a block party with approximately 800 other people along the 300-block of Tish Lane in the Long Ridge community.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, during the event, multiple shots were fired into the crowd, hitting several people. Morgan was among the victims. She was transported to MUSC in Charleston where she later died.
“What would Ariel Morgan be doing right now? Unfortunately, we will never know because her life was cut short due to senseless gun violence. She was only 19 years old,” the sheriff’s office posted to Facebook to mark the anniversary of her death.
Investigators still hope for a break in the case and urge people who “saw something to say something.”
“Anyone who may have been at the party or may have been privy to information that might help the detectives solve this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 1-888-CRIME-SC (1-888-274-6372) or 843-554-1111,” the sheriff’s office said.

Morgan was a graduate of Stratford High School. Before her death, she attended Francis Marion University with plans to one day become a pediatric nurse.
Because there were hundreds of people at the block party, deputies and Morgan’s family believe there were witnesses. However, no one is willing to talk.
“They were brave enough to shoot the gun at the party. They should be brave enough to go to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and turn themselves in,” Kendra Morgan, Ariel’s mother, previously told The Berkeley Observer.
“Someone knows something,” she continued. “Ariel didn’t deserve to die.”
