BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Eight people are safely back on dry land after getting caught up in a heavy thunderstorm over the weekend on Lake Moultrie.
According to the Moncks Corner Rural Fire Department, just before 6 p.m. Sunday, multiple agencies responded to a disabled boat on Lake Moultrie in the middle of bad weather.
Firefighters said a group’s boat broke down after striking a stump, stranding the boaters on the water and a nearby island.
Crews quickly responded and rescued all eight people. They then towed the disabled boat back to the landing and helped load it back onto the owner’s trailer.
No injuries were reported. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and Central Berkeley Fire & EMS also helped with the rescue.
