BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley County School Board approved Monday night its $418 million budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Most of the budget – 86 percent – will go to salaries and benefits for employees. The remaining 14 percent will be used to fund supplies and services.
With the projected budget now passed, all BCSD workers will receive a 6.5 percent pay increase, according to school officials. Salary schedules will be increased to 30 years with a plan to add additional years over a three-year period.
BCSD said it’s also looking to create a salary review committee to take a closer look at all current salary scales and positions to ensure consistency in employee classifications, pay, etc.
