BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian killed during a collision that occurred along the Crosstown in downtown Charleston earlier this week.
Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal announced Thursday that Belinda Prim, 66, of Moncks Corner died Wednesday at 2:06 p.m. at the Medical University of South Carolina from injuries following the crash.
The collision occurred Monday shortly after 5 a.m. at the corner of Septima P Clark Parkway and President Street.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2018 Ford sedan traveling south on Hwy. 17 when it struck Prim.
Folly Beach Director of Public Safety Andrew Gilreath told multiple news outlets that the sedan was driven by one of his officers who was on his way to work. That officer has since taken a leave of absence from his job.
SCHP said it is continuing its investigation.
