HANAHAN, S.C. – When several ducklings got stuck in a storm drain over the weekend, Hanahan firefighters, two Trident Medical Center nurses and a respiratory therapist quickly came to their rescue.
According to the hospital, they didn’t hesitate to crawl more than 100 feet in a wet, hot and dirty storm drain to rescue the distressed ducklings.
“No problem,” said Trident Medical Center trauma nurse Lauren Thompson, RN.
She and colleague Britney Ward, RN enlisted help from respiratory therapist Sara Cullinane and Hanahan firefighters for Sunday’s rescue operation.
The ducklings were ultimately safely reunited with the rest of their brood.
