Driver Killed After Striking Tree With Truck in Berkeley County: SCHP

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C – A driver died early Friday morning after striking a tree with his 2013 Chevy pickup truck in Berkeley County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Anthony T. Shiner of Summerville.

SCHP Master Trooper Brandon J. Bolt said the crash happened on Lancashire Road in Summerville around 3:10 a.m.

Bolt said Shiner was travelling south when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Coroner Darnell Hartwell said Shiner was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. 

The Berkeley County Sherriff’s Office, C&B Fire & Rescue and Berkeley County EMS also responded to the incident.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
