HANAHAN, S.C. – Two people are dead following a shooting at a Hanahan apartment complex, according to police.
Assistant Police Chief Cassie Brooks said officers responded to South Point Apartment at 6220 Murray Drive for shots fired Saturday.
After they arrived, officers found a door to an apartment cracked open and smelled gunpowder. The officers entered the apartment and located two deceased men.
“It appeared as though their deaths were caused by gunshots,” Brooks said. “It is believed that this is a targeted incident, and there is currently no threat to the rest of the community.”
The Hanahan Police Department, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, and the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
There are no arrests at this time, and it’s unclear if there are any suspects. Brooks said her department will release more information as it becomes available.
