MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Every day, about 37 people in the United States die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 39 minutes, according to the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration.
Nearly 22,000 DUI arrests were made in South Carolina last year, the S.C. Department of Public Safety reports.
To bring attention to the problem in Berkeley County, the Berkeley County Prevention Board and the Kennedy Center will host a candlelight memorial to honor victims and families affected by drunk and drugged driving.

The vigil will take place at Pointe North Church on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 110 Bilo Drive in Moncks Corner. The public is encouraged to attend.
