WEATHER ALERT: Lake Wind Advisory In Effect For Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A lake wind advisory will take effect for inland Berkeley County in the Lake Moultrie area from 7 a.m. Sunday through 9 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

Wind gusts up to 35 knots and waves between two to three feet are expected, the NWS reports.

Boaters on Lake Moultrie should use extra caution since strong winds and rough waves can overturn small craft.

“Berkeley County Emergency Management is monitoring the weather forecast, which shows impacts beginning Saturday afternoon into Sunday. Areas closer to the coast could experience more sustained wind and higher-level gusts,” the county posted to its official Facebook page Friday.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a nearly 100 percent chance of rain on Sunday morning. Heavy rainfall is possible in the morning with temperature highs in the mid-60s. Up to 35 mph wind gusts are expected.

For Sunday night, expect showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of showers after midnight. The air will be breezy with lows in the mid-40s. Along the lakeshore, wind speeds between 20 to 30 mph are expected. The chance of rain is 80 percent.

Monday calls for sunny skies, highs in the upper 50s and winds between 10 to 25 mph along the lakeshore.
