Berkeley Habitat For Humanity Celebrates Project Aimed At Providing Affordable Homes To Families In Need

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Berkeley Habitat for Humanity and Berkeley County officials took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the nonprofit’s Hutchinson Lane project.

This project, which received $200,000 in funding from Berkeley County Government’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, includes rebuilding Hutchinson Lane in the Wall Street community of Moncks Corner and adding to the area additional infrastructure, including water and sewer.

Berkeley Habitat plans to build six new homes on Hutchinson Lane, located off Wall Street—adding to the already 22 homes the nonprofit has built in the Wall Street community.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Urban and Housing Development, the county’s CDBG Program provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities, and counties. Read more about the program at www.hud.gov.

Wednesday’s event took place at the corner of Wall Street and Hutchinson Lane in Moncks Corner.
