GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Berkeley County Library System invites all ages to experience Hawai’ian culture and dance with Intro to Hula Class on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Goose Creek Library. The library is located at 325 Old Moncks Corner Road.
Participants will learn about the Hawai’ian culture and history, hula dance, have fun, and perform.
Shantel Rasure is the current head instructor, and a member of Pu’uwai Ho’āno ‘O Leikela Group, a hula group, in the Charleston area. She is from Hawai’i, speaks Hawai’ian, and has been dancing many different styles during her lifetime.
“Hula is a way to connect to nature and your body. You can dance for exercise, increase flexibility, and meet new people. This all-age class focuses on fundamental movements and combines them into routines to maximize health and enjoyment. Push yourself as hard or light as you are able. The difficulty is up to you. There are also seated options to allow everyone to participate,” said Shantel Rasure, Instructor of Intro to Hula Class.
