HANAHAN, S.C. – Starting next month, the Hanahan Fire Department will conduct required tests on fire hydrants throughout the city.
“This is a crucial part of ensuring that our emergency response systems are in top-notch condition to protect you and your loved ones,” HFD posted to Facebook. “Testing helps us identify any issues and ensures that hydrants deliver the required water pressure for firefighting.”
During the testing, residents may notice a temporary discoloration in their water, but don’t worry. This is normal and safe, firefighters said. Residents can simply run their taps for a few minutes until the water runs clear.
Hanahan firefighters said as testing gets underway in February they’ll continue to keep residents updated on the progress via the city’s official social media channels.
