BCSD’s Approved 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar Includes Earlier Start Date

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Next year’s instructional calendar will look a little different for Berkeley County parents, teachers and students.

On Tuesday, the Berkeley County School Board unanimously approved a recommended draft for the 2024-2025 school year.

The new calendar will have teachers returning to the classroom on Aug. 7, 2024 – seven days earlier than the current calendar. Students would also return to the classroom a week earlier than before with a new start date of Aug. 14.

Thanksgiving break would take place Nov. 27-29, 2024, according to the new calendar.

Other highlights of the 2024-2025 instructional calendar include:

Winter Break:

  • 10 instructional days off
  • Last day with students is 12/20 (half day)
  • Return with a teacher workday on 1/6
  • Students return on 1/7

Spring Break:

  • April 14-18, 2025

Quarters:

  • Q1 – 41 days – Ends on 10/10
  • Q2 – 46 days – Ends on 12/20
  • Q3 – 45 days – Ends on 3/13
  • Q4 – 48 days – Ends on 5/29

Semesters:

  • S1 – 87 days – Ends on 12/20
  • S2 – 93 days – Ends on 5/29

Students would end the school year on May 29 with a half day. Teachers would have a final workday on May 30 before going on summer break.
