GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Two people are in jail following an attempted traffic stop where gunshots were fired toward a Goose Creek police officer.

On Saturday around 11:05 p.m., a GCPD officer attempted to stop a vehicle at the North Main Street and 2nd Avenue intersection for a faulty tag light and disregarded a traffic signal.

The vehicle was a 2010 Nissan Verse, red in color and occupied by two people, later identified as Keith Jerome Galloway and Tabitha Lynn Scott. Approximately five shots were fired from the vehicle towards the officer, police said.

The pursuit continued until the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a home on Mulberry Drive. Officers said they arrested Scott near the vehicle. Officers and police K9 tracked and captured Galloway in the backyard of a nearby home.

A handgun was found by the driver’s door of the vehicle. Both were arrested and transported to the Berkeley County Detention Center in Moncks Corner.

Arrest warrants were issued for Galloway for failure to stop for blue lights – 1st offense, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines-1st offense, and possession of controlled substance IV-1st offense. Additional charges are forthcoming.
