BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The Berkeley 250 Frances Marion Commission will host a free public event on Aug. 15th featuring noted author and historian Bill Segars in conjunction with the Daniel Island Historical Society.

The co-author will have copies of his book “Churches in South Carolina Burned During the American Revolution: A Pictorial Guide” available for sale and signing. The event begins at 5:00 pm at the Daniel Point Retirement Community Auditorium, 514 Robert Daniel Drive, Daniel Island, SC.

Bill Segars and Jim Neal are the co-authors of Churches in South Carolina Burned During the American Revolution: A Pictorial Guide. Jim Neal became fascinated with the history of burned churches after watching the movie, The Patriot.

Bill Segars’ interest in history and work in historical renovation led him to research old SC churches. A phone call between the two men led to a partnership of shared information and documentation ultimately culminating in the publication of the book.

The Berkeley 250 Francis Marion Commission exists to promote and publicize Berkeley County’s
cultural and heritage tourism by educating and engaging Berkeley County residents in Revolutionary Era programming and the preservation of American Revolutionary assets.
