Berkeley County Government Offices to Reopen Thursday

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – All Berkeley County government offices will reopen for normal business hours on Thursday, August 8. This will include the courthouse, Berkeley Animal Center, Cypress Gardens, library branches, the Berkeley County landfill and convenience Centers. Bond court will hold a 2 p.m. session only.

The landfill will be open for extended hours on Saturday, August 10 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

OPERATING CONDITIONS: Berkeley County remains at OPCON 1 with the Emergency Operations Center activated. Berkeley County Roads & Bridges are clearing blockages while swift water rescue crews are on standby to assist with any potential flood emergencies. Please stay away from flooded roads and do not drive around/move barricades. Follow all weather updates HERE.

SHELTER UPDATE: Berkeley High School, located at 406 W. Main Street in Moncks Corner, is open as an emergency shelter. The Macedonia Middle School shelter has closed. Cots, food, and water will be provided. Please bring bedding and any necessary medications. Bus transportation to Berkeley High School will run 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. unless conditions change.   • Cainhoy Fire Department – 1004 United Drive, Huger
  • Medical needs: If you or a loved one needs to utilize a medical needs shelter, please call the SC Department of Public Health’s Careline at 855-472-3432.

CITIZEN CALL LINE: The Citizen Call Line (843-719-4800) is operational 24/7 for non-emergency calls ONLY. Callers will hear an automated response with Berkeley County storm information. **For all emergency calls, please call 911.**

POWER OUTAGES: In the event of a power outage, please do not call 911. Please report outages to the appropriate utility provider below:

REPORTING STORM DAMAGE: Residents and businesses are encouraged to report storm damage HERE or to the Citizen Call Line at 843-719-4800 and leave a detailed message. Reporting storm damage will help Berkeley County staff gauge the extent of damage in the county and report the findings to state and federal officials. These reports will determine appropriate federal and state funding for damage caused by the storm.
