At Least 39 Water Rescues Made In Berkeley County

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Tropical Storm Debby may have left South Carolina; however, heavy rain and flooding have since followed her.

According to Berkeley County officials, there have been 39 water rescues across the county since midnight. No storm-related injuries have been reported.

Residents in Cane Bay are being being asked to shelter in place.

Crews are on scene to repair a water line in the Briddleford Ridge neighborhood in Ladson, between Stroberfield Branch and Limehouse Branch. Once water is restored, a boil water advisory will be issued. Residents will be notified when the advisory is lifted.

Berkeley Middle School remains open as an emergency shelter.

Berkeley County remains at OPCON 1 and is monitoring another round of rainfall forecasted for this afternoon. Emergency crews remain on standby for potential emergencies and are monitoring road closures across the county. A list of road closures can be found here.
