MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – A longtime member of the Moncks Corner Fire Department now has a new title. Town officials recently announced the promotion of Corey Denny to battalion chief.
“We are confident that Corey will excel in this role and continue to be a valuable asset to our department,” the town posted to its official Facebook page. “He is motivated, respected, and passionate about serving the Moncks Corner community.”
According to town officials, Denny has been a loyal member of MCFD for the last 20 years. Before his fire service career, Corey graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School and served with the Minnesota Army National Guard.
His tenure with MCFD began as a volunteer in 2004. He began working full-time shortly thereafter and has worked his way up through the ranks, first as a firefighter, then as an engineer, and most recently as a captain. Corey became a Nationally Certified EMT in 2010, and through the years he has taken numerous classes to become a better firefighter, including preparing himself for this leadership opportunity by completing the Fire Officer III curriculum.
Town officials said he has been an integral part of developing the community risk reduction program, is the chairperson for the town’s safety committee, assists the fire chief with the risk management program, and serves as the IT liaison for fire department projects.
As a battalion chief, Corey will take on greater responsibilities, including assisting the fire chief with daily operations, mentoring company officers, and ensuring the highest standards of emergency response.
