“This is the first time in Berkeley County history that we have had a motor unit.” Berkeley County Sheriff
Duane Lewis stated. “Introducing motor unit to our agency was a game-changer for our traffic team. It really increases our responsiveness to address traffic issues quickly and effectively. This unit strengthens our ability to enforce the law, improve safety, and keep our roads safer for the community.”

“Our deputies that are assigned motorcycles have each completed well over 500 hours of training. Although the motor unit is still new to the agency, we have already seen the benefit.” Lieutenant Paul Yacobozzi stated. “The addition of motorcycles to our fleet brings us one step closer to achieving our goal of zero traffic-related deaths. Ultimately, it’s about keeping our community safe – whether that’s by preventing accidents or responding faster when seconds count. Every life saved is a testament to our commitment.”
