ST. STEPHEN, S.C. – American Red Cross disaster-trained volunteers assisted a family whose home, located on North Highway 52 in Saint Stephen, was damaged by a fire Monday evening.
The Red Cross is helping six people by providing financial assistance for immediate needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, along with referrals to much-needed resources.
Most of us don’t realize we have just two minutes to escape a home fire, which is the nation’s most frequent disaster.
Home fires take seven lives a day in the U.S., but working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death in half, according to the Red Cross.
