BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A GoFundMe account was recently established for a Berkeley County deputy seriously injured while on patrol.
On the morning of November 3rd, Deputy Cameron Babson was injured when he was struck by a car on the driver’s side of his patrol car.
According to friends and family, he broke his pelvis, ankle and wrist. His pelvis reportedly has multiple fractures that were unknown when he was first brought into the hospital. He has a long road to recovery.
Along with serving as a deputy, Babson also has a second job doing security for local events.
His family relies solely on his income because his wife Ashley suffers from sarcoidosis, a disease that she has had for a long time, making her unable to work.
“Ashley and Cameron have a small son, Joshua, who is five, and he is their entire world,” stated Jennifer Bivens West who created the GoFundMe account. “Ashley stays at home and takes care of
him, despite her disease. The money that is donated will be very appreciated.”
Family are hoping to raise $10,000 to help with medical costs.

This is clearly a line of duty injury. Why doesn’t Berkeley County pick up the cost of his medical bills and continue his full salary?
