Deputies, DEA Agents Confiscate Meth, Arsenol of Weapons from Sangaree House

guns weapons BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Sheriff Duane Lewis announced Thursday that Drug Enforcement Administration agents and deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Daniel Cowart at his residence on Haney Lane in the Sangaree area of Berkeley County.

Investigators executed a search warrant at his residence and also at a nearby public storage unit.

Upon executing the warrants, investigators recovered a Russian made Mosin Nagant rifle at the storage garage.

At the house, investigators recovered approximately one ounce of crystal meth as well as an SKS rifle, a 12 gauge shotgun, a Glock 9mm pistol, a Beretta 9mm pistol, a ballistic vest, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a flashlight stun gun and brass knuckles.

Sheriff Duane Lewis stated, “I am very pleased to be working closely with our federal partners on this serious issue. Gun and drug violence is at the root of much of the evil in the county and removing Daniel Cowart from the Sangaree area will have an impact on the community and county. We are

Cowart was charged federally with Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamines and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamines.
