BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office announced the conviction of 38 year old Telly Darnell McClam of Saint Stephen for the October 2013 abduction of a Saint Stephen mother and daughter and subsequent sexual assault of the daughter.
A Berkeley County jury found McClam guilty on all counts, which included two counts of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, First Degree Burglary, two counts of Kidnapping and two weapons-related charges.
McClam received two sentences of life without the possibility of parole for the Criminal Sexual Conduct charges, life in prison for the Burglary charge, 30 years in prison for each of the Kidnapping charges and 10 years for the weapons-related charges.
Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis stated that he wished to thank all of the agencies who participating in locating the victims and apprehending McClam including the Saint Stephen Police Department, the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, the Lane Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, as well the Ninth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Sheriff Lewis said, “This case is a prime example of how law enforcement resources can quickly come together to rescue victims and apprehend dangerous felons. We are pleased that the St. Stephen’s community is safer with the removal of McClam from the community.”
