BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On March 22, 2015 Chick-Fil-A inside Northwoods Mall and Rivers Avenue will host “Spirit Night” in honor of Cpl. Kimber Gist who was recently shot in the line of duty while investigating a suspicious vehicle located behind a grocery store on Red Bank Road.
Gist was recently released from the hospital after having been shot eight times. She is currently home with her parents in the upstate recovering from her injuries.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., ten percent of the designated sales from both Chick-Fil-A locations will go toward Gist’s recovery.
According to the chain’s local marketing director Joanna Babbitt, other restaurant locations also plan to make contributions.
Since the February 26th shooting, the community has rallied behind Gist and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. Her shooting made the second for the department in less than a year.
Berkeley County 9-1-1 dispatchers have also set up a GoFundMe page for Gist. Organizers are hoping to raise approximately $10,000. So far, they’ve raised a little over $5,000.
Litchfield Kustoms in Moncks Corner has also designed a special t-shirt in honor of Gist. A portion of the shirt sales will go toward Gist’s recovery.
