BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday the arrest of 23 year old Travis Hoard of North Charleston in connection with an attempted armed robber at the Family Dollar Store on Red Bank Road in the Goose Creek area of Berkeley County.
On March 3rd, sheriff’s deputies say they responded to an armed robbery at the Family Dollar Store on Red Bank Road in which two armed suspects dressed in all black and wearing ski masks entered the store around 8:45 p.m. and attempted to rob two victims in the business.
After growing impatient, the two suspects fled the scene without have secured any property. A short time later, deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision in front of the Sunoco gas station on Red Bank Road where the occupants had fled on foot.
A mask, gloves and shirt matching the clothing description provided by the victims of the armed robbery were found near the vehicle. Hoard was located a short time later in the area of Foster Creek Road by officers with the Hanahan Police Department. Hoard, who dressed in his underwear, initially provided a false identity to police officers. Hoard was later tied to the crash vehicle, which he had borrowed from his aunt earlier in the day.
Hoard was arrested and transported to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, where he has been charged with Armed Robbery. Investigators are still trying to identify the second suspect.
