GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, on Sunday around 10:15 a.m. 44 year old Harold Stewart, Jr. was struck by a train in the City of Goose Creek.
Stewart was walking on the side walk that crosses the tracks on Red Bank Road and Highway 52, Salisbury stated.
Witnesses stated that the arms were down and the lights flashing when Stewart stepped in front of a northbound Amtrak passenger train.
“He was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Salisbury who has not ruled on the manner of death,” read a statement by the coroner’s office. “He died from blunt force trauma and we are investigating the manner of death.”
The Goose Creek Police Department is also investigating.
