The SC Department of Public Safety recently recognized law enforcement officers and agencies across the state
for their efforts in 2013 to enforce the state’s DUI laws and remove impaired drivers from South Carolina roadways.
The Bonneau Police Department won the “Agency of the Year” award. With a department made up of approximately ten officers, Bonneau Police made 47 DUI arrests in 2013.
Bonneau Police Chief Franco Fuda was also named a 2013 DUI Hero Award recipient.
PFC Nick Johnson and PFC John Dawson with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office were also named recipients of the award.
To receive this honor, officers must have made anywhere between 25-49 DUI arrests in 2013.
Several agencies qualified to draw for one of 20 digital in-car video systems or two fully equipped police vehicles to use in DUI enforcement efforts. Those drawings took place live at the ceremony.
The Bonneau Police Department also went home with a digital in-car video system.
The Hanahan Police Department also won the same prize.
