BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Firefighters confirm they are battling a house fire at 148 Waterloo Drive that started shortly after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Crews on scene stated that two children have been transported to a nearby hospital. We’re told that one of the children is listed in critical condition.
Two volunteer firefighters and one adult inside the house was also transported to the hospital; however, their condition is unknown.
“With all the fire department vehicles on scene the roads are closed,” stated a firefighter on scene. “All we are asking is just be courteous to us while we are working.”
Drivers are asked to avoid Overton Road, Waterloo Drive and Ripple Avenue.
Santee Rural Fire Department is the lead agency on scene. Firefighters with that department are being assisted by Whitesville, Bonneau, Cordesville and Moncks Corner Rural.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
