GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to Berkeley County Chief Deputy Coroner George Oliver, on July 2, at 2:40 a.m. the Berkeley County Sheriff Office responded to a call at the intersection of Red Bank Road and Harbour Lake Dr.
When they arrived, 34-year-old Esteban Cupil Lopez, of Goose Creek, ran from the parking lot and onto Red Bank Road.
Authorities say he was struck by a truck and pronounced dead on the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner George Oliver.
“The next of kin lived in Guatemala, so it took a while to find and notify the next of kin,” stated Oliver.
The death was ruled accidental and was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
