According to WESH-TV, Ebony Wilkerson, a pregnant mother from Cross, accused of driving her van into the ocean with her children has entered a not guilty plea.
The young mom’s public defender reportedly filed that paperwork on Wednesday. She faces three counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Witnesses and beach patrol rescued the screaming children, along with their mother, after she drove into the crashing waves at Daytona Beach last month.
According to Volusia County deputies, in early March, Wilkerson locked the doors of her 2012 Honda Odyssey, put up the windows and told her three frightened children to close their eyes and go to sleep.
She reportedly then ignored the children’s pleas for help, Volusia County Sheriff’s investigators learned, insisting that she was taking herself and her three children to “a safer place.”
Officials say Wilkerson is now getting mental health care in the hospital.
Her children have reportedly been placed into protective custody.
The Cross mother was reportedly visiting family in the Daytona Beach area when the incident occurred.

hmmm…..that smug look on her face, and she’s going to plead insanity. Too bad they’ll let her off. She should be charged with 4 counts, since she’s pregnant.
