MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–On Wednesday, deputies responded to the corner Kitfield Road and Vernon Lane in Moncks Corner where they found a man lying by some nearby steps. The officer noticed a gunshot wound to
the victim’s right knee.
According to the victim, he was standing across the street near his vehicle, attempting to help his friend get into his car after his friend locked himself out of it.
A red Mitsubishi sedan reportedly pulled up with two people inside. The victim told deputies that two men got out of the car—both wearing camouflage masks.
The victim says the man in the passenger’s seat pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger, shooting him in the knee.
The suspects then took off in their car.
EMS arrived on the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.
Deputies conducted an immediate search of the area where they found lottery tickets and loose change in the grass as if someone had been emptying their pockets.
Officers say they did not locate any shell casings or any blood evidence from the scene.
