SUMMERVILLE, S.C. –On Monday afternoon, the Berkeley Co. School District celebrated the groundbreaking of its newest elementary school in the Nexton community. The new school is located in the Summerville area.
The price tag to build Nexton Elementary School is estimated to be around $19.3 million.
Construction on the new school started in December 2013 and is expected to be completed in June 2014.
The new school will serve approximately 900 students, according to BCSD officials.
Nexton will be a new living community that will provide, apartments, houses, businesses, parks and nature trails. The school will be built on the new Scholar Way, off of Brighton Park Blvd.
