BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Two people have died in two separate vehicle accidents on Halfway Creek Road over the weekend, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
On Saturday, January 27th at 5:30 p.m., 70-year-old Mable Kearise of Jamestown was traveling on Halfway Creek Road in Berkeley County when she ran off the left side of the roadway.
The Chevy sedan overturned several times and she was ejected.
She was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Bill Salisbury. Her death has been ruled accidental and was investigated by the Coroner’s Office and SC Highway Patrol.
On Sunday, January 28th, at approximately 8 p.m. a pickup truck traveling on Halfway Creek Road ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned leaving the driver trapped in the truck.
He was pronounced dead on the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner George Oliver.
His death has also been ruled accidental. According to the coroner, his next-of-kin lives out of the country and his office is currently trying to make the notification. The name will be released when that is done. It has been investigated by the Coroner’s Office and SC Highway Patrol. He was wearing a seatbelt.
