GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–One person is behind bars following a Labor Day shooting.
At 7 p.m. on September 3rd, deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at an address on Paul Street in the Goose Creek area the county.
The investigation revealed that the victim, who lives near the suspect, know each other and became involved in a dispute. According to both witnesses and the victim, 53-year-old Kris Wyatt Smith of Goose Creek shot the victim in the chest at close range, incapacitating him.
Deputies say Smith fled the scene and was arrested late Tuesday. He was served with an arrest warrant for attempted murder and transported to the Hill Finklea Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
