BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County Government offices will be closed Thursday, October 11. We anticipate normal operations will resume Friday, October 12.
Berkeley County Schools will also be closed Thursday, October 11. Berkeley County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will move to OPCON 3 at 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
Landfill and Convenience Centers: Berkeley County landfill and the Oakley convenience center will open at 1 p.m. Thursday. All other convenience centers will be closed Thursday. The landfill and convenience center will resume normal operations Friday, October 12.
Courthouse: All previously scheduled court cases scheduled for Thursday, October 11 will be rescheduled. All General Sessions Cases scheduled for Friday, October 12 will be rescheduled.
Animal Center: Berkeley County Animal Center will be closed Thursday, October 11.
OPCON 3 means a disaster or emergency situation is likely or imminent. The County has partially activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Berkeley County leaders urge citizens to prepare for strong winds, potential tornadoes and possible power outages.

Berkeley County has NOT opened emergency shelters, but are prepared to open shelters if necessary. Berkeley County citizens can call 843-719-4166 with any questions concerning county operations.
