BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with murder after a shooting incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon. Deputies have charged 17-year-old Timothy Mark Easterling, Jr.
Easterling is also being charged with Obstructing Justice and Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime.
Berkeley County Dispatch received a 911 call around 12:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting. The call was initially dispatched as a suicide.
Deputies arrived on scene to the 100 block of Brown Court and were met by the complaint, who was Easterling. He told deputies his friend was inside of his room with a gunshot wound. Deputies entered the home to find the victim lying on the floor suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head.
The victim was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he later died. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
