BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital workers recently spent time gearing up for this week’s projected opening with some important last-minute training.
On Thursday, members of the intensive care unit’s nursing staff trained in real-life scenarios with “mock patients.”
Nursing supervisors say putting a new team of workers together means learning about each other and the various medical situations they’ll soon be handling in a new facility.
The teams focused on drills like stabilizing patients and responding to emergency scenarios.
Healthcare workers have been onsite the past week, learning about the facility and making sure everything is ready for the anticipated Oct. 4 opening. They’ll be busy training until the opening date.
The new hospital will be the first in Berkeley County in 45 years.
