I-526E Lane Closure to Start Near Wando River Bridge on Nov. 22

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is continuing the I-526 Wando River Bridge rehabilitation project this month.

Weather permitting, work will start at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 and is expected to conclude no later than 6 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019.

During the duration of the project, the right lane and truck climbing lane of I-526 eastbound will be closed. The left eastbound lane will remain open at all times.

Exit 24 (Daniel Island) will also remain accessible. NO lanes of travel will be affected in the Westbound direction. Signage, traffic control devices and S.C. Highway Patrol will be on site directing motorists and controlling traffic flow.

This is a SCDOT, not Berkeley County project, Berkeley County officials stressed.
