PINEVILLE, S.C. – A driver died Tuesday night after losing control of his truck and crashing it into a convenience store in Pineville.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of a dark-colored Chevy pickup truck was traveling north on Highway 45 when he ran off the road shortly before 10 p.m.
After running off the road, troopers said the driver slammed into Santee Gas & Groceries, which is located at 3789 Highway 45 in Pineville. The convenience store sustained heavy damage from the impact of the crash.
The Eadytown Metro Fire Department and other neighboring fire departments responded to the scene.
Troopers said the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, did not survive the crash.
It’s not clear what caused the driver to lose control of his truck in the first place.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the driver involved in the crash.
