BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – A motorcyclist died Monday even following a crash near Cypress Gardens Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Around 4:40 p.m., the driver of a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on U.S. Highway 17A as the driver of a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer traveled north.
According to troopers, the driver lost control of his SUV, crossed the median and struck the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, died at a nearby hospital, troopers said. The driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
It wasn’t immediately known what caused the driver of the SUV to lose control of his vehicle.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
