Detective Kevin Murphy with the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office was one of the investigators honored during the event.

Murphy has been a member of the South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force since 2009.  He currently serves as the ICAC agent for the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, an affiliate of the South Carolina ICAC Task Force.

Since September 2012, Detective Murphy has taken part in 75 child exploitation file sharing cases, 11 search warrants, 8 arrests in Berkeley County and 57 referrals throughout South Carolina and other states. His dedication and spirit of collaboration make him an invaluable asset to the South Carolina ICAC Task Force and to the ICAC task forces across the nation.

“The work of these honorees in rescuing missing and exploited children – and in bringing perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice – is exceptional,” said Associate Attorney General Tony West.  “It takes very special people to perform such difficult – and in many cases heart-wrenching and life-changing – duties.”
