MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – The Moncks Corner Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a rise in theft and attempted thefts from vehicles over the last few weeks.

Thieves mainly target residential neighborhoods, moving quietly from driveway to driveway searching for unlocked vehicles, and rarely to do they use force to enter vehicles, presumably for fear of making noise and risking detection, according to police.
Police said these incidents typically occur during overnight hours and are usually not reported until the next morning when the owner realizes their vehicles or property is missing. Those common items stolen from the victimâs vehicles are cash, coins, jewelry, prescription medications, sunglasses and electronic equipment.
