ST. STEPHEN, S.C. – One person has died and another injured following an early morning car crash Sunday in Berkeley County.
According to Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 6:46 a.m. on State Hwy. 35 at Piston Court.
Glover said a 2002 Toyota Camry was travelling north on State Hwy. 35 when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and ran off the left side of the road, striking a ditch and tree.

The driver was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
The passenger was pronounced dead that the scene. The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not released their identity.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
