BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. – There are many adorable pups and kitties at Berkeley Animal Center in desperate need of forever homes. Each week, The Berkeley Observer highlights some of those pets that would love for you to give them a family to call their own.
Space at the shelter in Moncks Corner is often at max capacity. When you adopt or foster, you create additional space for the shelter to take in more pets, resulting in more lives saved.
Here is a list of animals at the shelter currently up for adoption for Jan. 12, 2024. For a complete list of adoptable animals, visit this link.
1. Brimmer (Age: 2 years)
Meet Brimmer! This handsome boy is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Brimmer is so sweet and he sits very nicely for treats! He has been at the shelter for a few weeks now and he would like a nice break from shelter living!
Sadly, Brimmer has heartworms (a non-contagious and preventable but deadly disease), and he needs a foster or forever home so he can begin his lifesaving treatment through Heroes for Hearts and Friends of Berkeley Animal Center.
If you are interested in meeting Brim, please stop into the shelter at 131 Central Berkeley Drive in Moncks Corner between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday! It is recommended you bring any dogs or kids in the home to ensure a great fit!
Not in a position to foster or adopt right now? Please consider making a donation of any amount towards the Heroes for Hearts program which helps cover the cost of treatment for dogs like Brimmer! Donations going straight to this cause can be made through the Facebook donation button below or through the H4H Square link.
2. Hallie (Age: 2 years)
Haillie is a wonderfully sweet girl that came into Berkeley Animal Center four long months ago. A doting and loving mother to her newborn babies, she helped get them ready for their own forever families – yet Haillie is still waiting for hers.
Haillie is a couch potato, a lover of all people, and she really enjoys a good chewable snack. She loves to be petted, snuggled, and loved on by her people. She enjoys sniffing and exploring and does the cutest piggy-like snorts when she finds something good.
Haillie would like her home to have no kitty cats or small dogs, but she wouldn’t mind another calm and friendly doggy friend.
Please help Haillie find the family she has been dreaming of for the last 4 months. She is so deserving of her second chance.
Currently, Haillie is living full-time at the shelter spending about 23.5 hours a day in her kennel. She is desperately looking for a foster or forever home. If you are interested in meeting Haillie, please stop by 131 Central Berkeley Drive in Moncks Corner Tuesday – Saturday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
3. Thelma (Age: 4 months)
Thelma is currently living full-time in the puppy room with her friend, Louise, at the shelter, so if you are interested in meeting one of these lovely girls, stop in Friday or Saturday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at 131 Central Berkeley Drive!
4. Louise (Age: 4 months)
Louise is currently living full-time in the puppy room with her friend, Thelma, at the shelter, so if you are interested in meeting one of these lovely girls, stop in Friday or Saturday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at 131 Central Berkeley Drive!
5. Enya (Age: 2 years)
This sweet 2-year-old girl has been waiting here at the shelter since November for someone to pick her up. She would love to have all the attention and be the queen of her castle — no cats, chickens, or small animals for this lady.
6. Reeves (Age: Unknown)
Reeves is available now at the shelter! His previous foster sent this amazing report card on him:
“I really like this dog! He is a people dog with a strong desire to please, and he likes dogs. He has a nice energy level – he likes to play ball and romp, but he has a great off switch when it’s time to calm down. He cuddled up on the bench with me after he got out a few zoomies. He walks very nicely on a leash and sits on command. He has a lab-like personality, but he must also have some pointer in his mix as he will intently watch and semi-point when he sees something of interest. It appears he has been well taken care of and he sits on his hind legs begging to come out of his kennel. It’s incredibly endearing. I foresee him as a really great indoor companion. Please forward to friends. This dog is a definite keeper!”
7. Spice (Age: 3 months)
Meet this perfect puppy!! Spice has been spayed and is currently looking for her forever family.
She is about 3 months old, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, crate trained, and working really hard on potty training. She is more laid back then her sister Latte…..but still makes her opinion known. She likes to watch and observe before joining into whatever shenanigans her litter mates or foster siblings are up to.
Dogs….cats….kids? Spice loves them all. Come meet this girl at Berkeley Animal Center Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Everybody needs a little SPICE in their life.
8. Latte (Age: 3 months)
Latte is about 3 months old and is looking for her forever family. She’s a spunky but sweet girl who enjoys an equal mix of play and nap time. She’s been in a foster home with cats, dogs, and children and does well with all three. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, crate trained, and working really hard at potty training.
Come meet this sweet girl at Berkeley Animal Center this Saturday from 1-3 p.m.! She’s a whole LATTE fun!!!
9. Grits (Age: 5 years)
Need breakfast plans? Take home Grits! Grits is a 5-year-old male hound who could really use a foster. He is GREAT with other dogs and a little shy with people.
10. Chili (Age: 9 weeks)
Single, blond, and free-spirited canine seeks someone to explore the world with. If you’re looking for love, fun and/or forever, then he’s your guy! He enjoys playing in the backyard, parkour and just cuddling on the couch watching a movie.
Chili is about 9 weeks old and weighs 16 pounds. His mom is a shepherd and hound mix. He’s up-to-date with vaccines and is going to be neutered soon. He’s also excelling at house training.
Chili is just the right mix of chill and spice to keep life interesting. He loves people and dogs, and would be velcroed to you 24/7. Please contact the Berkeley Animal Center for adoption info at (843) 719-5050
