GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Goose Creek police are investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday night in the Walmart parking lot on St. James Avenue.
According to Chief LJ Roscoe, the shooting happened at approximately 10:08 p.m.
“Based on the information we have know this was a domestic situation,” she said. “The suspect is Simeon Boyd who is the ex-boyfriend of the victim’s girlfriend.”
When police arrived on the scene, they said they found a male victim, Tyquez Goodwin, shot in the abdomen inside Walmart. Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital.
Before the shooting, police said Goodwin and his girlfriend, Deashya Wigfall, had been shopping at Walmart. While they were walking to their vehicle, a truck approached, Boyd exited the driver’s side of it and began fighting Goodwin.
Wigfall told police that Boyd pulled out a handgun, and he then shot Goodwin. She then ran back into Walmart and called 911, according to GCPD.
Police said Goodwin was able to make it inside Walmart, while Boyd fled the scene in an older model Chevrolet truck, beige in color.
Police said they’ve issued an arrest warrant for Boyd on the charge of assault/attempted murder.
