ST. STEPHEN, S.C.–Berkeley Co. deputies and church members are trying to figure out who stole several expensive items from a St. Stephen church early Tuesday morning.
According to an incident report, deputies responded to a call at the Harristown Full Gospel Holiness Church around 6:00 a.m.
Once they arrived, they met with the pastor of the church, Donald Gaskins.
Deputies say that the pastor told the responding officers that the church’s riding lawn mower and golf cart had been stolen from the property. Both had an estimated value of $7,500.
The pastor and another church member also told deputies that the fuel tank on the right side of a tractor that sat on the church’s property was also broken and hanging loose.
Witnesses told the officers that they’d seen a dark-colored Dodge Dakota truck leaving from the behind the building and believed that the theft may have been committed by the driver of that vehicle.
If you have any information about this crime or the whereabouts of the church’s stolen property, contact the Sheriff’s Office at (843) 719-4412 or Crimestoppers at (843) 554-1111.
