BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.—Today voters are heading to the polls to pick two U.S. Senators and whether Governor Nikki Haley will continue leading the people of the Palmetto State.
Of course, there are a slew of local races in Berkeley County including coroner, sheriff, and county supervisor to name a few.
“So far, turnout has been good and steady, maybe a bit more than the 2010 mid-term election,” stated Adam Hammons, Berkeley County Elections & Registration Director.
Four years ago Berkeley County’s voter turnout was not quite 50 percent.
According to Hammons, the busiest precincts are in Goose Creek, Goose Creek 1 & 2 at Goose Creek High School and Westview 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Westview Middle School.
“We are expecting around 60 percent turnout,” stated Hammons.
Once the results are in and counted, they will be certified on Friday at 10 a.m.
If you have yet to vote, Hammons says you should make sure you know where your polling location is and have one of the five forms of ID: SC Drivers License, SC DMV ID, US Passport, Military ID, or Voter Registration card with photo.
