The free program allows trailer owners to have a unique owner-applied identification number permanently stamped onto their trailer. That number is then entered into law enforcement records along with the trailer’s vehicle identification number (VIN) and serial number.
Officials say the additional identifier has proven valuable in previous theft investigations by helping deputies identify and recover stolen trailers.
The event is open to trailer owners throughout the tri-county area and is designed to improve the chances of recovering trailers if they are ever stolen.
