Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Crash in Macedonia

Victim identified as 60-year-old Bryan M. Rodger; South Carolina Highway Patrol investigating collision.

A 60-year-old Bonneau man was killed Tuesday morning after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 17A, according to the Berkeley County Coroner's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.

MACEDONIA, S.C. — A 60-year-old Bonneau man was killed Tuesday morning after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 17A, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Bryan M. Rodger, 60, of Bonneau. Rodger, the sole occupant of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering fatal injuries in the collision.

The crash happened at approximately 6:53 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 17A and Church of God Road.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Rodger was riding a 1985 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on U.S. Highway 17A and was attempting to turn left onto Church of God Road when his motorcycle was struck by a 2003 Ford pickup truck, which was also traveling south on U.S. Highway 17A.

The driver of the pickup was not injured, troopers said.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, Berkeley County EMS and North Berkeley Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
