GOOSE CREEK, S.C.—On Tuesday, Goose Creek Police say they responded to Stratford High School after receiving information that a male student had a gun in his book bag.
According to the incident report, officers went to the student’s classroom and took the teen’s pink Nike book bag. He was then removed from the classroom for questioning.
School officials reportedly searched the bag and located a handgun. The officer then informed the student that he was under arrest and read him his Miranda Rights.
As officers questioned the student, he allegedly told them that he had obtained the gun from a friend at the Exxon Gas Station on Ashley Phosphate Road. The teen reportedly told officers the gun was given to him for protection because he had been receiving threats from an unknown male on social media.
Police stated that the teen told them that he had no plans to use the gun at school but wanted it on him for when he walked to Sonic to meet his ride.
The teen was charged with: carrying firearms on school property, possession of a pistol by certain persons unlawful, carrying a weapon on school property and disturbing school.
Police placed the gun into an evidence locker at the Goose Creek Police Department.
